Brinkley-Cook Settlement Reached

After two years of separation and five days of testimony, Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook have reached a settlement. Brinkley will receive sole custody of their two children and all real estate assets but will pay Cook $2.1 million. The couple were said to be working throughout Wednesday night to reach an early morning settlement.

Throughout the divorce hearings, which remained public partly due to Brinkley’s insistence, Cook’s affair and $3,000/month porn habit created high drama. Meanwhile, Brinkley has been criticized for allowing the public to hear the intimate details of the marriage’s demise. She appeared to be seeking revenge and Cook’s attorneys accused her of poor parenting, since the children would obviously hear the drama unfold. A court appointed attorney testified to Brinkley’s anger issues but also added “Cook’s personality demands constant reassurance,” according to People magazine.

Newsday also reports the settlement was reached prior to new testimony from two independent private investigators hired by Brinkley who supposedly followed Cook for over a year. According to Newsday, “they were ready to introduce at trial damaging information and photographs of him. Stephen Dux held an envelope which he said was filled with photographs and tapes. He declined to give details on the evidence.”

Thankfully a settlement was reached before Peter Cook or the children were put through more mudslinging.
