Damon Dash Custody Fight Continues
In the past month, Damon Dash has faced possible foreclosures of two Manhattan apartments and the rights to Pro-Keds, not to mention lingering tax problems and a pending rape case. Now the co-founder of Rock-A-Fella Records is facing another custody battle over his son, Damon Jr AKA ‘Boogie.’ He and the child’s mother, Linda Williams, have had nasty custody battles for the past five years. The court has ordered Boogie should live with his father but Williams violated that agreement by not returning the boy after their visit last week and not appearing as ordered by the judge in Manhattan Family Court on Monday.
Williams claims that since the newest financial problems have arisen, Boogie has lived without hot water or electricity. Boogie is also taking the subway to school, since the driver has been fired. Williams claims a big reason Dash received full custody was due to the extras he could afford the child. Dash was supposedly worried about a possible kidnapping and argued the child needed a driver to take him to and from school.
According to the NY Post, the child’s court appointed lawyer told the judge in the case Williams said the boy now wants to live with her. However, the judge has stated that if Williams does not appear in court on Wednesday, he will issue a warrant for her arrest.
The more appropriate way to handle the situation on the part of the mom would have been to file a motion for modification of custody and requesting a hearing, as opposed to just keeping the child and violating the court order. Now, she faces going into court and requesting a change in custody in front of a judge who is already angry with her for not only violating his order, but not showing up for court. Not really how you want to start off your case.
