Former View Co-Host To Divorce
Debbie Matenopoulos and Jay Faires have announced their intention to divorce. According to People magazine, the couple have been separated since March 2008. Matenopoulos released this statement, “I am not a proponent of divorce and I believe in working things out…So you can only imagine my extreme sadness and disillusionment when I was informed of my husband’s divorce proceedings, much like you were, by reading them online.”
The couple were married in 2003. Matenopoulos works for E! Entertainment’s Daily 10 and Faires is President of Music at Lionsgate. Faires filed on grounds of irreconcilable differences and has requested the court to not give his wife any spousal support. It is unknown if the couple have a prenuptial agreement.
Individuals are entitled to a divorce whether or not the other party agrees to it. The other party does not have a choice if their spouse files for divorce. Obviously the better way to handle the situation is to have the courtesy to let your spouse know that you are filing so that they are not completely blindsided.
