Sheree Drops Appeal
Real Atlanta Housewife, Sheree Whitfield, has dropped the appeal of her divorce. Sheree was awarded $775,000 as payment for her equitable interest in the parties marital property, but appealed the decision since she was not awarded any alimony. She and her lawyers claim the appeal is now moot since her former husband and former NFL player, Bob Whitfield, has squandered his fortune, according to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution. Her attorney told the court on Monday, “The man hasn’t paid a dime in child support. Mr. Whitfield’s going to have to figure out how to pay the money.” The AJC is also reporting Bob Whitfield has paid $425,000 of the $750,000 due but no child support since October 2007.
Meanwhile, Bob Whitfield’s attorney, Christopher Olmstead, argued that Sheree Whitfield, 38, or her lawyers, should pay up to $2,500 in penalties for bringing a frivolous appeal. He stated the appeal and subsequent last minute dismissal were an affornt to the court, according to the AJC.
It does appear the timing in the dismissal of the appeal is somewhat disingenous. If Mr. Whitfield has squandered his money, Ms. Whitfield was obviously aware of that fact prior to yesterday, the day arguments were heard, and the day she chose to dismiss her appeal. One has to wonder if the ensuing publicity the appeal had garnnered based on Sheree’s appearance on the reality show The Realy Housewives of Atlanta made it too awkward for her to claim she needed alimony, given her comments on the show regarding how great her new business is doing.

The reason Bob is broke is because he has been paying his legal fees and “her” legal fees. That is money they could’ve kept between the two of them instead of giving it to attorneys. When will people learn, fighting it out in court only makes the attorneys rich! That is money they could’ve divided and invested.
